How do I prove my income when I am self employed?

Mortgage lenders will ask you to prove your income in the following ways:

  • Accountants reference
  • SA302 form showing your tax calculations and tax year overview from HMRC
  • Business accounts

Obtaining your SA302 tax calculations from HMRC is by far the most common process.

It can be ordered by phone and HMRC will post your SA302’s to you or you can download the SA302 from your online tax portal which will give you access to them straight away.
